ABSTRACT
Aim: The purpose of this study is to examine some performance parameters in elite Turkish women football players and to identify the relationships among these variables.
Materials and Methods: This study included 20 professional female football players from a team competing in the Turkish Women's Super League. Data were collected from participants regarding their anthropometric characteristics (height, weight, body mass index, skeletal muscle mass ratio, and body fat percentage), flexibility level (sit-and-reach test), jump performance (squat jump and countermovement jump tests with and without arm swing), and dynamic balance capacity (Y-balance test). Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation were used in the analysis of the data.
Results: According to the results of the analysis, the mean values of the participants in terms of performance parameters were 38.98 (±6.83 cm) for flexibility, 24.85 (±4.44 cm) for squat jump (SJ), 25.28 (±4.30 cm) for countermovement jump (CMJ), 28.87 (±5.16 cm) for hand-assisted SJ and 27.10 (±5.38 cm) for CMJ , 50.7 (±5.36 cm) for right anterior direction, 51.7 (±4.85 cm) for right lateral direction, 51.25 (±4.77 cm) for right medial direction, 53.65 (±5.02 cm) for left anterior direction, 53.75 (±4.55 cm) for left lateral direction and 55.35 (±4.50 cm) for left medial direction. In addition, it was found that the participants' physical parameters such as body composition, flexibility, jumping and balance had statistically significant correlations with each other.
Conclusions: The relationships observed between participants’ anthropometric characteristics and physical performance parameters highlight the necessity of adopting holistic approaches in the development of motor performance.
