ABSTRACT
Aim: This study aims to determine the level of academic staff’s adaptation to organizational change within the field of sports sciences.
Material and Method: To achieve this goal, the adaptation of academics to organizational change was examined using a quantitative research model, specifically the survey model. Data on academics' adaptation to change were collected using the "Faculty Adaptation to Change Scale." The population of the study consists of academics working in the field of sports sciences, while the sample group consists of 203 academics selected randomly. Parametric tests were used in data analysis showing normal distribution. The differences in academics' adaptation to organizational change based on independent variables were examined using the "Independent Sample t-test" and "One Way ANOVA." Additionally, the relationships between the scale and its subdimensions were determined using "Pearson Correlation" analysis.
Results: According to the analysis results, academics' adaptation to organizational change did not significantly differ by gender, academic unit, or age (p>0.05), but significant differences were found based on education level, department, academic title, and length of service (p<0.05). The correlation analysis revealed that the strongest relationship was between the subdimension "Faculty Openness to Change" (FOC) and the "Adaptation to Organizational Change" (AOC) scale (r=0.950; p<0.01). Among the subdimensions, a high correlation was found between "Pressure from Society for Change" (PSCC) and FOC (r=0.772; p<0.01), and a moderate correlation was found between "Management's Openness to Change" (MOC) and PSCC (r=0.605; p<0.01).
Conclusion: In conclusion, this research reinforces the idea that academics' adaptation to organizational change is shaped by a multidimensional process involving professional status, disciplinary context, and institutional tenure, rather than demographic characteristics. Future research should further explore how institutional policies, leadership approaches, and faculty development programs can support the culture of adaptation and innovation.
